Life during the CoronaviruS and/or BLACK LIVES MATTER
Denver, Colorado (USA)
This piece is an image of a drawing done in water soluble pencils and gouache on raw linen and embedded on-site in a 12th century cemetery. The drawing is an image of antique sheep shears placed next to a broken headstone. The image relates in some ways to both Coronavirus and Black Lives Matter due to the symbolism of sheep as a “people” that are part of a larger whole in society and guided in certain ways, but also mistreated… leading to unnecessary deaths and sadness. The notion of sheep herding is about control—government control and the unfortunate consequences of large-scale misconceptions and prejudice.
