Life during the CoronaviruS and/or BLACK LIVES MATTER
Lyons, Colorado (USA)
Pre-Covid-19, I had made a big petri dish out of clay but had the time to develop it.
The nasty virus has given me the focused time and horrible inspiration to truly investigate it, deeply.
I started thinking like the virus- what it looks like, how it spreads-stabs the body, and erodes the lungs. Images of people struck by it were flooding in from the world. I tried to imagine how people felt. What does that look like?
Yellow, sagging lungs drowning and being consumed by a pussy blackish, burble of awfulness. Just hurts.
Making art for me has always been a way to filter and, thus, better understand what is going on around us. The lockdown has given me precious time to absorb, collect, reflect, and empathize with how it feels.
